An exciting collaboration with graphic artist Drew Millward. He is best known for designing psychedelic posters for rock bands such as the Foo Fighters and the Arctic Monkeys. Drew was commissioned to create a Modernist-inspired cork wallpaper celebrating the creativity and industry of the north of England.
Drew's work is heavily influenced by the post-industrial landscape surrounding his home in Yorkshire, and this can be seen in the bold, monochromatic design featuring factory buildings, hills and circular, sun-like motifs. Drew’s trademark skulls, black cats and owls can also be spotted lurking within this intricate design.
Printed onto sustainable Portuguese cork, 'Hit The North' is an innovative juxtaposition of graphic art with a natural material, and as such it has been awarded the prestigious Design Guild Mark for 2020/2021.
This highly distinctive printed cork wallpaper adds instant character to a contemporary space or provides the perfect contrast to period detailing such as exposed brickwork or wooden panelling. Recent customer projects have included a music room (the cork has great acoustic qualities), a games room and a basement powder room. In a contract setting, 'Hit The North' creates a wonderfully textural backdrop for bars, restaurants or wine cellars.
The design is 130cm wide and supplied by the running metre.

Paste the wall application Care instructions: Spongable Hanging Instructions Preparation Prepare wall by removing all traces of dirt, old wallpaper, or loose paint. Do not hang wall-coverings on any wall with a history of damp. Fill any cracks and allow to dry before hanging. We recommend that walls be ‘lined’ horizontally using a good quality lining paper. Allow this to fully dry. Absorbent surfaces should be appropriately sized using a diluted wallpaper adhesive. Sealed walls, i.e. painted should be rubbed with sandpaper to create a ‘key’. It is important that the walls are of an even and consistent colour. If they are not then consideration should be given to painting them with an appropriate colourwash. Alternatively, we recommend that walls be ‘lined’ horizontally using a good quality lining paper. Allow this to fully dry. |
